Creator Intro

This body of work begins with fragments of traditional silk fabric, yangdan, which are cut, arranged, and reassembled through meticulous hand-stitching. Each piece exists as an individual unit, yet through the repetitive act of stitching, these fragments are gradually connected, forming a cohesive structure and expanding into a unified visual composition.
This process goes beyond physical assembly; it reflects a conceptual exploration of connection and reconstruction. Fragmented elements are brought together, gaining new relationships and meanings as they are reconfigured into a coherent whole. The accumulation of hand labor embodies a sense of time, where incomplete parts evolve toward a state of wholeness.
The primary material, yangdan, is characterized by its subtle sheen and soft, flexible texture. Its surface responds delicately to light, shifting in tone and depth depending on the viewer’s perspective. These material qualities create a sense of rhythm and visual depth, allowing the work to oscillate between flatness and dimensionality.
Rooted in traditional hand-stitching techniques, the process is expanded through geometric divisions and irregular compositions, translating textile practice into a contemporary visual language. The repeated acts of cutting, arranging, and stitching result in a surface that traverses the boundaries between textile, painting, and craft.
Ultimately, this work seeks to explore the relationship between fragments and wholeness, imperfection and completion, while reinterpreting traditional materials through a contemporary lens and proposing new possibilities for craft in the present time.
