Artist Introduction: Choi Young Mee
Choi Young Mee is a South Korean contemporary artist, painter, writer, and Korea’s first certified forest sensibility development expert. She blends painting with the healing power of nature, creating works that explore the deep connection between earth, sky, and forest.
Artistic Philosophy
Her philosophy is rooted in the “aesthetics of innocence (무구의 미학)” — the pure, unadorned essence of nature. Rather than simply depicting landscapes, she incorporates natural materials such as soil, stones, and plants from her garden, allowing the forest’s raw energy to flow through her brushstrokes. Choi emphasizes returning to an honest, intuitive state of mind, viewing nature as a source of spiritual healing and emotional restoration.
Notable Solo Exhibition: Land, Sky, Forest: TEA TALK TABLE
Her solo exhibition “Land, Sky, Forest: TEA TALK TABLE” (땅, 하늘, 숲: TEA TALK TABLE) was held at Sophia Gallery in Sejong, Korea (May 25 – June 20, 2026). The show extended her forest-inspired paintings into everyday objects like silk scarves, fabric posters, and coasters, turning art into intimate daily rituals of reflection and connection with nature.
Choi Young Mee’s work invites us to slow down, reconnect with the natural world, and find tranquility in its simplicity and purity.

• Multi-language — It includes content in multiple languages (primarily Korean and English, with possible others depending on the edition), making it accessible across cultures.
• Artistic & Philosophical — Combines visual art (paintings), literature (poems and prose), and tea culture to explore themes like mindfulness, healing, daily life, and human connection.
