The gat is a traditional Korean hat often referred to as a “hat of light.” It was worn by seonbi, the scholarly gentlemen of Korea. There are single-layer, double-layer, and triple-layer gat, and this product is a triple-layer gat. The aesthetic character of a gat varies depending on the proportions of its upper cylinder (the crown) and its lower brim. When the lower diameter of the crown measures 16 cm and the brim reaches 45 cm in diameter, the gat achieves its most dignified presence and a visually complete form.
