This necklace is part of the Obsidian Bloom series, centered around the traditional Korean Chrysanthemum knot and articulated through the interplay of contrasting materials. The combination of black tiger’s eye and white mother-of-pearl establishes a balance between darkness and light, creating a restrained yet distinct visual presence.
Positioned at the core of the composition, the Chrysanthemum knot embodies a dense and orderly structure that retains its traditional character while contributing to the overall sculptural integrity of the piece. It functions not merely as an ornamental detail, but as the central axis of the design.
The sequence of beads—alternating between black tiger’s eye and white mother-of-pearl—forms a measured rhythm that follows the contour of the neckline. A portion of the necklace transitions into a sterling silver chain, introducing both material contrast and structural variation within the composition.
The chain is fitted with a silicone slider, allowing the length to be adjusted according to the wearer’s preference. This detail integrates functional flexibility into the overall sculptural design.
The piece is crafted in 92.5% sterling silver. The varied textures and luster of each material interact to enhance depth and balance across the form.
This work proposes a new sculptural language that combines traditional knotting with contrasting materials and structural transitions, revealing both tension and harmony within a single composition.
This piece combines black tiger’s eye, white mother-of-pearl, and a sterling silver chain. Due to its multi-material structure, care should be taken during wear and storage, as strong impact or external pressure may cause deformation or damage.
A portion of the necklace is constructed with a sterling silver chain and features a silicone slider for adjustable length. When adjusting, please move the silicone slider gently rather than pulling the chain forcefully, as excessive tension may damage the chain or affect the structure.
Black tiger’s eye and mother-of-pearl are materials that may be sensitive to impact. Please avoid dropping the piece or subjecting it to strong pressure. In particular, mother-of-pearl may be prone to surface scratches and can be sensitive to chemicals.
Sterling silver may naturally tarnish over time due to exposure to air and sulfur. When not in use, it is recommended to store the piece in a sealed container to minimize contact with air.
As with most jewelry, contact with perfumes, cosmetics, and hair products may accelerate discoloration or cause surface damage. Please avoid direct contact where possible.
Prolonged exposure to water, sweat, and humidity may affect the luster of the materials. Proper care is advised during wear.
