작가 소개

I am a carpenter. Rather than drawing a boundary between craft and art, I work in the space in between, handling wood. Wood becomes furniture, objects, or a canvas. What remains returns as finish and color, forming another work.

The meeting of wood and humanity, built layer by layer

The echo of birds within the workshop often brings quiet comfort.
This vessel emerged from listening to the call of a Korean scops owl.
An unseen resonance is translated into form.

Inspired by the form of a bird’s nest, this piece was created using leftover wood, which was burned to produce charcoal, then finely ground and applied as an oil finish.

Production Technique: Handmade charcoal oil

“Straight lines did not belong within nature’s curves. While observing natural forms, I came to use a bird’s nest as my motif.”

Made to order.
Due to the natural characteristics of solid wood, grain patterns and live edges will vary.

Although circular in form, the stool retains its live edge and reveals the natural expansion and contraction of the wood.
It is not a perfect circle, but a living one.

The wide seat is open enough to accommodate several people,
and the overlapping three-leg structures—forming six points of support—create a heightened sense of stability.

Placed within an open space, it allows seating and viewing from all 360 degrees.

The Sheltering Stool is positioned at the center of a space,
designed to become a place to lean for some,
and a place to empty one’s thoughts for others.

Production Technique: The surface is finished with traditional Korean ink and oil.

This piece draws from the Korean character “ㅇ.”
Phonetically associated with the sound “o,” its circular form became the foundation of the work.

From this linguistic shape, a sculptural and stable structure was developed—
transforming a letter into a physical presence.

Production Technique: natural oil finish

Made from trees felled due to redevelopment, regardless of species.
To minimize cracking, the wood is thoroughly dried over an extended period, both internally and externally. Surface texture is created using fire and a fine brush, and the piece is finished with natural oil.

Production Technique: fire and a fine brush, natural oil.

Inspired by the form of sound waves, this piece translates them into a sculptural language while exploring the balance between function and art.
This side table maintains a strong presence in any space it occupies.

Production Technique: ebonizing oak, natural oil finish, polyurethane varnish

Inspired by a bird’s nest, this piece interprets a form that can be comfortably used in everyday life through a sculptural language, integrating both function and form.
