The Buddhist stories and children's songs my mother shared with me when I was young felt more like magical fairy tales than religion. As an adult, I create illustrations to express my respect for the Buddha, who was the hero of those childhood stories.
My work often portrays the Buddha or imagined spaces where the Buddha and I exist together. Through these images, I explore my own Buddha-nature and reflect on the direction of my life.
Most of my work begins as digital paintings and is printed on a variety of materials, including traditional Korean paper (hanji), canvas, and fabric. These works can also be adapted into a range of lifestyle products.
