This work is inspired by the textures of stone and natural surfaces shaped over time. To achieve a precise and consistent thickness, the form was created using the slip-casting technique. This method allowed for controlled construction while maintaining a sense of delicacy appropriate for a vessel intended to hold living plants.
The surface texture emerges through the use of silicon carbide within the glaze, which reacts during firing to create a bubbling, uneven surface. This effect evokes the tactile qualities of stone or coral, emphasizing a raw, organic materiality. While the texture references solid natural forms, the overall shape is guided by the flowing, graceful curves observed in plants.
