The imaginary animal–shaped lidded incense burner is recorded as having been used to burn incense during official court gatherings at the royal palace.
Designated as National Treasure No. 56 of the Republic of Korea, the Celadon Incense Burner with Kirin Ornament is a figurative Goryeo celadon incense burner produced during the Goryeo Dynasty.
This incense cone holder reinterprets the original function of such historical incense burners, carrying it into a contemporary context.

A Seokdeung is a stone lantern erected within Buddhist temple grounds.
Historically, it was used to dispel darkness and illuminate the surroundings, while symbolically embodying the Buddha’s light and the prayers and aspirations of the people.

This work is a tealight candle and incense holder that also functions as an object, inspired by the Stone Lantern at Gakhwangjeon Hall of Hwaeomsa Temple, Gurye period stone lantern designated as National Treasure No. 12 of Korea.
