I capture the essence of Korean aesthetics in ceramics, drawing inspiration from Hanji (traditional Korean paper) and botanical motifs. My work centers on a signature technique called 'Seumigi'—a term derived from the Korean word for 'permeating' or 'soaking into.' In this process, pigments are dropped onto fragments of Hanji and allowed to naturally absorb into the ceramic surface. The distinct texture of the paper, infused into the clay, creates a singular visual depth that cannot be achieved through traditional painting alone.
My creative process is a continuous journey of patience. After carefully placing hand-torn pieces of Hanji onto the bisque-fired clay, I layer the pigments one by one, waiting for the colors to overlap and settle. This repetitive act transcends the mere creation of an object; it is a ritual of recording devotion and time. The botanical forms etched onto the ceramics are both the beautiful moments of daily life I have encountered and a sincere, enduring chronicle of time.

The ‘san (Mountain)’ series is a collection of tableware designed specifically for Cafe Gourmand, capturing the majestic essence of Korean mountains.
The series features a sleek, modern design, crafted from a blended clay body mixed with sand to evoke the raw, organic textures of nature. Using hand-torn Hanji (traditional Korean paper) to delineate the graceful ridges of a mountain, I applied pigments that naturally permeate the ceramic surface, creating a subtle and layered coloration. Each piece is finished with a high-temperature glaze fired at over 1250°C, ensuring it is both durable and food-safe.
*Customization: Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) may be subject to adjustment for custom size requests.
Production Year: 2025
Production Technique: Slip Casting, Underglaze Painting, Seumigi Technique

The ‘Iris’ series is a collection of work inspired by the iris, a plant deeply rooted in Korean sentiments. It captures the plant's delicate lines and textures by allowing them to permeate onto the ceramic surface through Hanji (traditional Korean paper).
The design is achieved by layering hand-cut Hanji in the shape of flower petals, one by one, to create a sense of depth and overlap. Available in Blue and Black, each cup features a unique characteristic where the floral patterns on the front and back differ. The pieces are finished with a high-temperature glaze fired at over 1250°C, ensuring they are both durable and food-safe.

The elegant yet independent form of the ‘Thistle’ symbolizes a "time to focus on oneself." With a cup of coffee in the morning sunlight, this piece cheers for you to spend the day being entirely yourself.
The delicate thorns of the thistle are intricately expressed by drawing fine lines over colors permeated through Hanji fragments. After the coloring process, each piece is finished with a high-temperature glaze fired at over 1250°C, making it both durable and food-safe.

The ‘Celandine’ series captures the pure beauty and resilient vitality of celandine leaves blooming between the crevices of rocks. Just as they insist on flowering even in barren environments, I hope small but sturdy joys will bloom in our daily lives.
The leaf shapes are hand-cut from Hanji fragments and colored using the Seumigi (permeating) technique. In particular, a striking black-to-red gradation was added to create a sophisticated point of interest. Each piece is finished with a high-temperature glaze fired at over 1250°C, ensuring it is both durable and food-safe.
